When should we do a refresher training course?
As a rule of thumb,
Why should we do refreshers?
Because this industry continues to have the highest numbers of fatalities -
and many of these are easily preventable.

Children on and around Farms
It is against the law to allow a child under 13 to ride on or drive agricultural self-propelled machines (such as tractors) and certain other farm machinery. The law also requires that employers make sure their risk assessment for young people under the age of 18 takes full account of their inexperience, immaturity and lack of awareness of relevant risks.

This group is a committee based organisation founded more than 30 years ago as the "Agricultural Training Board" to provide training to the local agricultural community. If you would like to join our committee then please let us know. Our chairman is currently Andrew White. We have just a couple of meetings each year, often with food and drinks!
We are based on a Membership paying annual subscriptions and having first chance at course spaces. We are also open to all on the basis that there is an additional non member charge to our courses per attendee. Non Members will be invoiced pre course.
FLRT works hard to bring you the best and widest variety of rural and agricultural training opportunities in your locality. We can provide everything from
forklifts to first aid,
PA courses to ATV
Chainsaws to BASIS,
Health and Safety to Fire Awareness etc ..
Working closely with 4 other groups in Lincolnshire widens the variety of courses we can offer you.
Local and Affordable Training
Just ring or email to ask about anything at all relating to training provision. If I don't know - then I will do my best to find out - and fast!
Because FLRT is a not-for-profit organisation there may be occasions when despite our best efforts, insufficient people have signed up to make a course economically viable. Please bear with us on these rare occasions and we will try to rearrange at the earliest opportunity or signpost you to a nearby course with another group.
Venues
We are fortunate to have some great venues for our training from within our group. This is really appreciated by all trainees. Members also volunteer (or are invited) to host small courses on their farm. We hope that all members continue to offer their sites and facilities so that training remains affordable and it is fairly distributed around the membership. We do not want to be reliant or put pressure on just a few members.
If you think your premises and facilities are suitable please mention it when booking a course.
PLEASE
NOTE on Hosting
Being responsible when hosting is important. It may be helpful to inform your insurance company that you are hosting training on a particular day to ensure that you are covered for any eventuality beyond that which is covered by the Instructor and Training Provider.
All facilities and machines used must meet adequate health and safety regulations, and be appropriately maintained with records available when required.
For more details please ask.
